Tartarus - Arena - The Sheol Pit
From outside of the arena, the roar of the crowds was bad enough, but here it can be downright deafening to those not prepared for it upon emerging into the open-air bowl shape of the Sheol Pit's combat area. It isn't just fights that are hosted here, and frequently matches of other sorts take place such as races or other competitions, but overall it's the gladitorial bouts that bring the largest crowds, and it's to this that the arena caters. The pit itself is a marvel of modern technology, great machinery hidden strategically from view both underground and at the side panellings to be let loose at a moment's notice to alter the 'landscape' of where the battles take place within minutes. The arena itself is capable of change it's state to suit almost any sort of terrain battle, from simulating high speed winds and being tall enough to host aerial battles, to changing it's makeup and even the temperature to switch to a freezing tundra or burning desert, to even being able to submerge itself completely in water for aquatic matches, the special shielding protecting the crowd from being flooded. It's this shielding that keeps stray blasts and shrapnel from making it's way up into the bleachers where it could injure the audience. Of course it's invisible, but it's fueled by immense power generators set on the ceiling high above ground-level, constantly thrumming and providing the necessary 'juice' to keep them up and going. The bleachers themselves are a constant flurry of motion, people coming and leaving, cheering and jeering, and vendors going about throwing hot dogs and various other snack foods here and there where they are in demand.

Battling Cage Fighting Pit
Out <O> leads to Tartarus - Arena Lobby.
<Global News Network> (No! Not GNN! But the Tartarus Broadcasting Network/Pay Per View!) Next Up! Lead singer of Chaos and Order, Daryn! Versus the UN's most wanted criminal, Doctor Doppler! It's the cyborg battle of the century! Or the battle of the next five minutes, who knows for sure? Coming up next on Tartarus Pay Per View! Order now!
Dynamo Man arrives from the Tartarus - Arena Lobby.
Dynamo Man has arrived.
Dr. Doppler emerges from the tunnel leading from the "green room" (or whatever you wish to call it) to the floor of the Sheol Pit. The scientist seems to be in high spirits, lips twisted in a wicked grin. Unlike most of his public appearances, he has shed his voluminous labcoat, showing, perhaps flaunting, to the world just how how far he has surrendered himself to the glory of the machine.
Blues receives a radio transmission.
Bass has arrived.
Deceptor Raccoon is here, in the stands somewhere. She blends in surprisingly well for a purple-haired, red-armored, fuzzy Maverick antisocialist.
Oh no. There's no way Dynamo Man could miss seeing this one up-close and personal, especially not with a partner, an ally in the ring. He's in the bleachers, a close seat to the Pit. He is quite prominent, not in any sort of disguise, and of course as Doppler enters he is one of the primary boo'ers. "Down with Doppler!"
A figure appears within the VIP box, coming in through a hidden back corridor. The poncho-wearing individual moves out of the shadowed backdrop and into the main seat in the box, his glowing red eyes sufficient to indicate his identity.
The Force Commander sits on his black throne within his loge, gloved hands resting on the arms of the chair. He looks down into the arena, shadows concealing his expression. Does the coming battle amuse him? Distract him? It is hard to say either way.
Blues smirks as he appears in Bass' box. "You know, I was coming here anyhow for those two Mavericks, but this doesn't sound like a bad diversion, either." Then, he takes a bowl of pretzels from Bass' stash and munches.
Daryn strides into the arena....without his usual armor on whatsoever. He looks completely human outside of it, with long red hair and blood-red eyes that seem to want to set everything they see on fire. He is still wearing a light chainmail, but for one rare time, Daryn's face is fully revealed, and to be honest, he doesn't seem all that muscular as he does while inside the giant battle ... thing. Daryn draws his sword first, oddly enough, waving it to the ground, "Yo word up dogs!? Lovely battle here, eh? Pretty Pretty Puppies? Lots of loving? Happy days? Ha!", he spreads his hands out, laughing at the ceiling softly, shaking his head, "Been awaitin' to take my aggression out on this punk for a long time...", Daryn closes his eyes briefly before lowering his sword horizontally in front of him. "Yo Doc. How's the Evil Empire going? Couldn't handle the jocks at school makin' fun of you, eh?", he widens his stance slightly, "Yeah, I remember how kids blew up their schools for being sad. You wanted to prove your superiority, however, so you took out the whole city.", he smirks ever so slightly, "...But I've been ramblin' long enough about the past. Nobody wants to hear that.", his smirk thins into a smile, "They want blood, and I'm an entertainer. Gotta please the fans.", and with that, he turns, raising his sword to the arena once more. Daryn may not be one of the combat gods that grace this place. In fact, he hasn't won a battle here yet, but Daryn has always known how to please the fans, even if it means getting the hell beat out of him.
Bass barely provides a twitch to Blues' silent appearance. His left hand tenses for a few seconds, but relaxes as he deduces his relatively peaceful intent. He lifts his arm and pulls back his hood, relaxing back into his throne while Blues helps himself to the loge's amenities.
"Oh?" he asks. "You're in the hunt for the dragoon and that idiot shark as well? I'm surprised you haven't found them yet. It's not like their competency is any threat."
Blues simply shrugs and munches a few more snacks. "I was otherwise occupied, and I was going to let someone else take care of it. But if they can't deal with those two pathetic fools, someone has to."
Dr. Doppler listens to the musician's ramblings, not that he has much choice. He folds his arms across his chest as the observations and insults are hurled at him, appearing almost bored. "Are you finished yet?" he asks with overt sarcasm. "It's a wonder people don't fall asleep at your concerts. Oh, that's right. That's why you have the earth-shattering bass and occasional explosions to keep them awake." As Daryn turns to acknowledge the crowd, he does the same, raising fists into the air.
Dynamo Man cheers for Daryn, raising a fist - lowering it and just glaring at Doppler as he makes his own speech.
Frost Man comes lumbering, rather quickly, down the aisle. He's late, he's late...for an unexpected date. A date of watching CARNAGE!!! He looks around....hey look Dynamo Man! He claps his hands a few times and lumbers down towards the front row. "Dynamo! Hey Dynamo!", he calls.
"Mmn," comments Bass, reaching over next to his throne and producing a foil-wrapped hot dog, tearing through the casing and starting to idly chomp on it.
"Their ability to run and hide like frightened children is the envy of the Robot Masters. I'll say this -- Mavericks are good at cowering in the shadows, even in a hostile city."
Dynamo Man perks, glancing over his shoulder as Frost calls him, and waving him down to the front. "Frost, brother! Come down and watch, Daryn's going to give that punk Doppler whatfor!" Grinning all the while.
Blues shrugs. "All prey animals develop excellent evasion abilities over time. Otherwise the predators would have already eaten them."
Daryn smirks, "I've got the best people provin' 'er innocence. More than y'do for your own troops, sendin' 'em off to die here.", as most of the cheering dies down, Daryn adds in German, privately to Doppler, "<For my sister...Your death will be slow.>", Daryn then turns to Doppler, ducking down as he bursts towards the Good Doctor, raising his blade up carefully before turning into a sword swing towards Doppler's upper chest, turning around with a quick follow through towards the left shoulder. He says, "<This is for the guilty...>", in a hushed German whisper as he starts his assault.
Daryn misses you with his Holy Shiznits attack.
"Funny, then, that these Reploids are modeled after nature's ultimate predators." Bass takes another chomp out of his hot dog, watching the fray begin in earnest.
Blues smirks as Daryn whiffs. "Sometimes instincts don't take."
Frost Man noddles and lumbers quickly down to sit in the 4 seats next to Dynamo Man. He looks at the fight. Ohhh..."So, ya think Dayrn is gonna whip Doppler? I hope so. I don't like Doppler. I don't like the Mavericks either...they're really mean."
Dr. Doppler may be best known for his keen intellect, but apparently he's no slouch when it comes to combat. Wired muscles react as Daryn sword slashes towards him, carrying him to one side to avoid the blow. The words directed at him do not miss, however, and his grin becomes more malicious. So, this is what this is all about. "<Your sister, hm? You want to make my death as slow as hers?>" he answers in German. "<I didn't know you planned to be here for days.>" With no further taunts, he lashes out with a gauntleted hand to smash the side of the insolent rock star's head.
Dynamo Man nods. "Me too. It's our family's destiny to crush those infidels." He turns back down to watch the fight ..
You strike Daryn with a minor hit from your Smash attack.
Deceptor Raccoon, seated somewhere near Dynamo Man, swivels her ears towards him. She does not aknowledge his presance in any other way, however.
Frost Man nods. "Yea. And they all seem to be really mean to me too." Hey, stuff is getting smashed...Frost's attention is grabbed.
Daryn smirks, and replies in German, <<"To be a Maverick, is to be dead, she works for you, she is dead.">>, he ducks to avoid the blow but the gauntlet still connects, smashing Daryn's face away slightly, but even as it does, he throws a quick thrust towards Doppler's right leg with a blade. Looking to go for an exchange of blows at least, it seems.
Daryn strikes you with a glancing hit from his Mack The Knife for 1 units of damage.
Bass puts his feet up on the lower railing of the loge. He starts doing color for the fight. "This is going to come down to who can hit harder. Physically, they can take nearly the same amount of punishment. Doppler has the definite firepower advantage, but Daryn may have agility working for him."
Frost Man thinks Daryn will win off the 'big cool sword' theory.
Believe it or not, so does Dynamo Man. Either that or 'it's Daryn's role to win'.
Frost Man doubts you all really want to know, unless you have an intense interest in ice cream and ice cream accessories.
Blues narrows his eyes as he watches. "Doppler also lacks one thing. Deep, burning, festered rage. Whatever is between them, the metalhead is unleashing everything inside him upon the doctor. Of all people, I'd think you'd recognize that much hatred."
Frost Man doesn't care, darn you all!
Frost Man starts to sob.
Frost Man peers at Dynamo Man....
Dynamo Man appears extremely agitated. "Someone's copying me over the broadband, d***it."
Perhaps Doppler's agility isn't quite as good as his first demonstration suggested. Again he moves aside with surprising grace for someone of his size, but the knife still grazes his leg. Unsurprisingly, a thin trickle of mech-fluids wells up from the cut. Still, he gives Daryn a wicked smirk. "<Dead? Hardly. She has been reborn! Cleansed!>" The scientist stretches his arms forwards, spreading his palms out. "< Perhaps you need some cleansing yourself. >" And with that, gouts of flame burst forth from his palms, arcing towards the rocker.
Frost Man shuffles a few inches down the way from Dynamo Man..
You strike Daryn with a glancing hit from your Flamethrowers attack.
Dynamo Man snickers, for a moment.
Daryn says, "<Maybe I do...>", as he draws his guitar in his free hand, holding it in front of him to help ward off the flames which severely burn his skin, "<But.....In either case...>", Daryn steps forward, through the flames, grinding his teeth together. As Daryn fights his way through the flames, using his guitar to help ward them off, Daryn hums softly, perhaps as a way to 'cool' himself down. Daryn then shouts in German, just barely over the roar of the flames, <"This is for the Parents!>", and with that he flings his guitar at Doppler's face, hoping he'll break his brain if nothing else.
Daryn strikes you with a glancing hit from his Flcl Tribute for 6 units of damage.
You paged Daryn with 'Flcl?'.

Frost Man looks at Dynamo, "What's so funny?"
Dr. Doppler is struck in the face. Unluckily for Daryn, his brain still works. His wicked grin is gone now, replaced with an irritated scowl and some of the paint from the guitar. "< Your family means that much to you, hm? Is that why you've decided to waste my time? >" He reaches for one of the flasks cinched on his belt and flings it at Daryn.
You miss Daryn with your Chemical Beaker attack.
Sword Man has left.
Blues tsks. "Poor old fart's losing his co-ordination."
"Yes, so it is," says Bass, idly putting his other hand to his chin while gesturing with his half-dog. "I wonder what Doppler did to vent coolant into Daryn's Wheaties. I never count out the emotional involvement factor -- but will it be a benefit to Daryn, or will he be blinded by it and act rashly? It all depends on how well trained you are in channeling your fury."
Blues says, "Daryn's currently managed to score several solid hits with only one return from Doppler. I'd say he's channeling pretty well."
Daryn stop, drops, and rolls under the chemical beakers, knowing Doppler does freaky stuff with those beaker things, and not wanting to have to deal with icky green stuff on his pretty face. He picks up his guitar as he adds, "<No, not my family, my life. My city. My people. My -world-.>", with a guttural growl Daryn shouts, "<This is for the Friends!>", in almost horrific German as he swings his blade's blunt edge towards Doppler's neck. Daryn ain't fighting nicely against this bloke.
Daryn misses you with his All My Friends Are Metalheads attack.
Bass finishes off his hot dog in one bite, swallowing like a python with no ill effects. "It's going to take a lot more than what Daryn's dished out to put down Doppler, though. Does he have the endurance?"

Dr. Doppler brings his right arm up to deflect the swung guitar, thus saving him from decapitation. Or at least a very nasty bruise. There is a solid *clunk* as plastic and hardwood guitar meet reinforced ceramisteel gauntlet, followed by the zap and crackle of electricity. "< Your friends seem to have left you. Left you for a better cause, hmmm?>" The capacitors embedded in the scientist's shoulders hum to life, and several thousand volts of electrical current course out, saturating the area around him. The question is just how light on his feet the rocks star really is.

Daryn has an electric guitar and he has zapped himself with it quite enough times to know that being zapped by electricity is never fun. Well, sometimes it is actually, but only on -his- terms! Daryn backflipsaway from Doppler as he crackles with electricity, any bits of energy impacting on him simply being absorbed by his EMP-resistant frame. He winces visibly, having the feeling that that would have hurt if he didn't as far away as he did. Carefully, Daryn holds his blade out in front of him, before saying, <"I'll just have to show you...">, Daryn whispers before dashing back towards Doppler, letting out a wordless yell as he swings his blade at Doppler several times, "<This is for Germany!>", he screams as he follows through in a wild combination of blows, trying to finally tear Doppler apart.
Daryn strikes you with a minor hit from his Hsb for 14 units of damage.
"Now it's getting interesting," says Bass, producing a WilyBeer from another side of his throne and popping it open. "Doppler's good and bloodied. Is he finally going to start aiming, or are we going to see a real upset?"
[Radio: (C) Mav-Sec] Deceptor Raccoon transmits, "It sounds ... like someone else is interested in the transport. I can't tell who, though."
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Commander Paragon Pirana transmits, "OOC: nix that. I have to idle for a bit."
Blues shrugs. "Either way, I think I'm getting my lack of admission fees."
Dr. Doppler is forced to step back under the flurry of thrusts and slashes fueled by Daryn's rage. Perhaps the doctor goaded him a bit too much. Bass' commentary is quite accurate, as Doppler now bleeds from a number of serious gashes on his arms and torso, a little human blood mingling with the thicker, darker mech-fluids. Not that anyone can see aside from Daryn and those paying the extra zenny for ringside seats or Extreme Close-Up coverage. His face is now a mask of seething rage, though his seems more controlled than his opponant's. "<You!>" He shouts. "< You make a mockery of Germany! We /saved/ Germany from an wretched decaying death at the hands of humanity! It is the bright star of our new Empire! And you, you swine, are not worthy to be part of it! >" The giant capacitors hum more loudly than before, practically sparking to overcapacity as he lunges forward at the rocker. As he comes within striking distance, the capacitors unleash their fury, a solid wall of electrical fire lashing out in front of him.
Those people in the ringside seats may have some scorched hair after this.
You strike Daryn with a solid hit from your Fire Dash attack.
Daryn bursts out laughing at Doppler's words, almost uncontrollably. He even forgets to speak in his native tongue, "Saved it!?", he clutches his wounded chest as he struggles to compose himself, stumbling back, shaking his head, "No...no....Haha.....", he steps back to brace against the Doctor's fury, but he doesn't expect the wall of flame to appear. Daryn's eyes widen briefly before he is slammed into, his body easily carried to the arena's wall, his body colliding messily against it as he slumps to his knees. Coughing up specks of blood, Daryn struggles up, stumbling to his feet, burns covering most of his body as he, with an insane amount of ressiliance against his own injuries, flings the guitar once more at the Doctor with only one word: "Shaddup."
Daryn strikes you with a minor hit from his Flcl Tribute for 9 units of damage.
Bass smiles grimly, appreciating the violent spectacle. "Impressive," he says, not indicating whom he meant that toward.
Blues hmmms. "His suicidal attack style is certainly putting Doppler a bit off balance."
Dr. Doppler seems ready to bask in the victory that is his...except for the niggling problem that Daryn refuses to die. The flung guitar catches him off-guard and in the chest, making a noticable imprint in the ceramisteel plating. Glaring daggers at Daryn, the doctor reaches for his backup weapon, a heavy laser pistol. It's been in his shoulder holster all the time, usually unnoticable. Hands sticky with his own blood, he nonetheless manages to hold the pistol steady enough that he just might be able to put a nice hole in the irritating singer's chest. "< I never liked your music anyway.>" he growls.
You strike Daryn with a minor hit from your Laser Pistol attack.
It has once been suggested that Daryn should retreat at -25 endurance. Perhaps that's how things work in Daryn's little head as well, as the laser pistol burns a hole in Daryn's chest, forcing him to his knees once more. He coughs up some more blood, but he ... just ... doesn't ... -Die-. Daryn's strongest attribute isn't his strength, skill with the blade, or even his singing. It's his bloody stubborness. With his freed up hand, Daryn draws a dagger out from under his chainmail, and flings it at Doppler's laser pistol arm, hoping to eliminate his use of the weapon by eliminating the use of his limb.
Daryn strikes you with a glancing hit from his Mack The Knife for 3 units of damage.
"This is an interesting twist," comments Bass.
Blues says, "It's all fun and games until someone gets his hand pinned to the wall."
Bass receives a radio transmission.
Bass takes a pull from his WilyBeer, continuing to watch the fight with great interest. "Then it's just a fun game."
Bass receives a radio transmission.
Bass sends a radio transmission.
Dr. Doppler winces more in surprise than in pain as the dagger knocks the pistol from his hand, slicing through his palm along the way. Both gun and knife land in the dirt a short distance from Bass' box seat. "< No, not a swine, >" the scientists decides, "< A cockroach. A bloody filthy cockroach. >" Reaching up to the armored gauntlet protecting his left arm, he taps one of the still-usable keys. What almost appears to be a forcefield bubbles around him, except that it shifts around him an odd, sickly colors more reminiscent of an oil slick than a soap bubble. "< Die! >" Leaping forward again, Doppler dashes towards Daryn, moving to envelop him in the oddly-charged force field.
You miss Daryn with your Reverse Energy Flow Field attack.
Daryn smirks, <"Cockroaches have survived a long time...">, he seems to get a better handling of himself at this point, probably due to having time to recover from his earlier, more painful (if Daryn believed in pain, at least) injury. He has his back to the wall, which is never good, so Daryn waits for the dashing Doppler to get within range, before -just- rolling out of the barrier's range, taking two rolls to make sure. Leaping up immediately, Daryn says, <"Sis is still alive... as long as she lives, you can't win, eh?">, he smirks as he lunges forward, to smack Doppler's side with the blunt edge of his weapon once more.
Daryn strikes you with a glancing hit from his All My Friends Are Metalheads for 1 units of damage.
Blues says, "He's got his groove back."
"It's coming down to the wire," says Bass, leaning forward on his throne to get a better view. "This is really going to be good."
Dr. Doppler is struck by the flat of Daryn's blade, but in comparison to the other wounds given tonight, this one is negligable. "<Oh, she lives,>" he agrees, "< She lives for the glory of the machine, loyal to the cause. If only there were more like her. >" In spite of his injuries, he manages one last cruel smile. "< Which hurts more, Daryn? Her death, or knowing that she will forever be lost to you? >" He does not wait for an answer, he reaches out his non-slashed hand towards Daryn, intending to have the rocker's head meet the wall. Hard.
You strike Daryn with a minor hit from your Smash attack.
Blues says, "And now we see what we shall see."
Daryn's left hand tightens at Doppler's words, but nothing beyond that, "She did this after you slew her family. I don't know what you did to convince her...But you stole her soul.", he says simply, even his anger fading somewhat. And that might be why he is much too slow to raise his blade to block Doppler's fist once more, the fist cracking against Daryn's jaw. Daryn clutches it, feels it for a moment before picking up his guitar and swinging it at Doppler's own face, "This is for Kara.", he says, his mouth not moving as it appears to be broken, but apparently he doesn't need it to continue speaking. He has long stopped chatting in German though.
Daryn misses you with his Flcl Tribute attack.

Dr. Doppler expects the guitar this time, and takes hop-step back out of Daryn's reach. "< Apparently your sister isn't helping you much,>" he observes dryly. Kara, is it? He makes a note to check the roster of recruits later. As he takes another step back, he takes another stoppered flask from his belt, this one filled with a sloshing orange liquid, and flings it at him. If nothing else, perhaps it will eat through that accursed instrument of his.
You miss Daryn with your Chemical Beaker attack.
Daryn isn't popular with his sister anymore. Sniffle. Sniffle sniffle. Daryn smacks the beaker away with his guitar, apparently the liquid that manages to actually connect with the guitar isn't enough to damage it except for the strings, some of them melt away except for one which remains resolute. Then again, Daryn's guitar is more durable than he is, so it makes sense. Turning his body to one side Daryn says, "<She's mean, what can I say?>", his lips quirking up into a manic grin as he swings his sword towards Doppler's chest once more, "This is for Kara!", he repeats.
Daryn strikes you with a glancing hit from his Holy Shiznits for 1 units of damage.
Dr. Doppler idly observes that shouting his sister's name doesn't seem to be helping Daryn ready. The tip of the blade barely grazes his arm, adding another small slash to the host of gashes he's already received. "< She can't hear you. She doesn't want to hear you, >" he goads. "< She'd rather you burn in hell! >" He raises his palms at Daryn again in emphasis, firing hissing gouts of flame at the rocker.
You miss Daryn with your Flamethrowers attack.
Blues says, "You know, when they have to use hell metaphors backed by flame weapons, you know that their backs are up against the wall."
"Or not very creative," counters Bass.
Daryn says, "...Maybe...", but he recognizes Doppler's form again. This is why Daryn's a warrior, and Doppler's a scientist. Leaping to the side away from the Flames this time, Daryn impacts lightly against the wall. Raising his foot up to press lightly against the arena wall, Daryn says, "Then...", he pushes off, flinging his guitar over Doppler's right shoulder, as he moves forward, and at the same time, stabs forward with his sword in a simple thrust. "This is for Daryn."
"Or both," Protoman concludes.
Daryn strikes you with a minor hit from his Mack The Knife for 8 units of damage.
You are below your courage-endurance point.
Omega has disconnected.
It's true, Doppler is no warrior. That becomes painfully obvious as Daryn bears down on him. His first reaction is one of surprise - no being, not even a cyborg, should be able to take this much punishment and move that quickly. Further thoughts are interrupted as the sword pierces deeply into his side, blood and mechfluids both splurting from the wound. Doppler stumbles back, one hand instinctively reaching to cover the injury, somehow managing to keep from falling to his knees. Barely. He glares balefully at Daryn, but it loses its effect in the twisted grimace of pain.
Daryn tugs his blade free, dropping it immediately. Daryn's mask is one of cool rage as his various wounds drive him to add to the destruction. Daryn reaches out with his hand, grabbing at Doppler's chest with his free hand. Daryn whispers, "Time stands still....", softly as his arm starts to glow, as indeed does most of his body. The small hum of someone overcharging their systems is heard as Daryn's hand shakes against the hold he has on Doppler. The hum starts to grow louder as Daryn continues, "At the Iron Hill.... The fate of us all lies deep in the dark when time stands still at the Iron hill...", his face suddenly twists into one of pure fury. Looks like he's willing to take Doppler out at the cost of his own life.
"So much for that," says Bass, finishing his WilyBeer and throwing the empty out into the crowd, where it assumedly smacks somebody in the back of the head. "A gripping fight, up until the last blow. Indeed --" But he is cut off by the sudden action down on the field, which grabs his interest.
Blues hrms.... "It would seem that his hatred is willing to drive him past his own barriers." He pauses. "An object lesson for you, Forte."
Dr. Doppler's glazed eyes snap back to attention as it dawns on him that Daryn plans more than a simple finishing attack. He doesn't call out for favor, or to finish the match. Perhaps that simply hasn't occured to him. His jaw drops, forcing his words, still speaking in German. "< You-you fool! What are you doing? You'll kill us both! >"
Daryn laughs wildly, "The Coalition has already killed Daryn Luna.", Daryn says, "I ... Am Not ... A Maverick.", is he still fussing over that accusation. Lifting Doppler up lightly, Daryn says, "The Coalition'll live without ya, I'm sure... but....", Daryn grunts as the overflow of energy goes through him, "But at least the Benedict dies....", perhaps he might succeed too. Daryn whispers in German a small prayer, "<To assail against God...>", or perhaps a curse. Daryn's frame shudders once before the light becomes unbearable. Daryn's body explodes in a ferocious light, blinding briefly as the two cyborgs are enveloped by the self detonation. The light fills the arena, but it's a harmless light, the explosion focused mostly on the two cyborgs.
Bass's gamma correction triggers as the bright flash washes across the arena, eyes never leaving the battle. His hands grip the railing tightly as the battle comes to a bloody climax, Blues' comments fading into the back of his mind. Violence ... beautiful, terrible violence.
Blues doesn't need to close his eyes. Even if his optics didn't correct, his visor would. But he does anyways. Closing his eyes and folding his hands quietly, he waits for the aftermath.
There are some things, no matter how much one prepares against them, that simply cannot be stopped.
Daryn's self-detonation courses through the arena like a tsunami, and Doppler is helpless to do anything against it. He is blasted by the initial detonation, then buffeted by the concussion that follows. He lands against the forcefield protecting the spectators from the heat of battle with a sickening thud. He slides down the now-visible field, mechfluids and blood trailing behind him like a child's fingerpainting. Circuits spark and sizzle, one capacitor shorn off entirely, the other visibly cracked. His armor? There might be some left, but most of it is slag. Synthetic or real flesh doesn't seem to matter, as most of it is charred.
Needless to say, he's not getting up.
Daryn splats on the other side of the arena, his right arm vaporized as well as his legs, but oddly enough his chest and left arm seem to be perfectly fine. They -were- glowing along with the rest of the body, but apparently the self destruct signal didn't get through. If one analyzes Daryn's body, they would know the power conductor in that area was partially severed by Doppler's blows, and near the time of the big boom, not enough power got rerouted to the rest of Daryn's body. He might be salvagable, or might not. It's still hideous damage. Daryn isn't exactly in any shape to chat either.
"Mop crew," Bass directs into a hidden microphone in the VIP loge, and settles back on his throne. He fishes out another WilyBeer. "Such a dramatic ending. I wonder if either of them will live."
Blues shrugs. "Does it matter? Both of them expended a lot of their hearts in this fight. Doppler may not care...but I suspect that if he lives, Daryn will be shattered."
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Dr. Doppler transmits, "*emergency medical beacon*"
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Sigma growls.
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Ashriel transmits, "Hm?"
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Aerial Tactician Morph Moth transmits, "I saw that on the Television. Daryn self-destructed. I will go retreive the doctor."
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Sigma transmits, "His damage? How badly is he damaged!?"
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Dive Makara transmits, "Has a make fixes well for the Big Father Doctor Sigmodd Dopplo immediate! It is ever always the right!"
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Dive Makara transmits, "Do always make it!"
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Aerial Tactician Morph Moth transmits, "It was a rather large explosion. I do not think the Doctor will be repairing us anytime soon."
Morph Moth suddenly arrives, wearing his Tuxedo Moth disguise. Disregarding whatever spectators might be doing at this moment, he moves to the now devastated pit and moves towards Doctor Doppler's slagged body. He checks it's damage for a moment and makes a radio transmission or two.
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Aerial Tactician Morph Moth transmits, "I'm at Tartarus. Doctor Doppler is severly injured. There is one capacitor that has been completely shorn off and the other is visibly cracked. Over 80 percent of his armor is slag. His synth flesh is greatly charred as well."
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Ashriel transmits, "...WHAT?"
Daryn like, lays there, probably taken by the Tartarus crew to be fixed up so Daryn can pay a large sum to be repaired after being repaired. Tartarus probably considers itself very lucky to have a nice 'punishment' crew for people who decide not to pay the large sums.
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Vice ChairGlider Gizmo Glider transmits, " Well....RETRIEVE HIM YOU FOOL!!! MAKE SURE THE DOCTOR IS ALRIGHT AND DOESN'T FALL IN THE HANDS OF OUR ENEMIES...those that continue to taunt us...oh how they taunt us. THEY SHALL PAY FOR THEIR HUMILATING RESPONSES!! Oh how they shall pay..hehehe.."
[Radio: (B) Mav-Main] Aerial Tactician Morph Moth transmits, "Calm down, I have every intention of retreiving him."
